I live in Oslo, Norway, where I was also born and raised. I have also lived in Singapore, the UK (down Cornwall way) and both coasts of the US of A. While on the east coast, I attended the Rhode Island School of Design in lovely Providence (“When good befalls a man he calls it Providence, when evil fate.” – Hamsun), Rhode Island for my BFA in graphic design, where I had the privilege (and misfortune) of studying alongside some of the world’s best designers.
After graduation, I moved to the west coast and lived in Berkeley, CA, where I had an year-long internship at the Berkeley Rep, before moving home to Norway. I’ve been working as a graphic designer since then, focusing on editorial design as well as taking on smaller web design assignments.
I’m a keen hobby photographer in my spare time, and while I’m neither terribly athletic or outdoorsy, I enjoy cycling during the summer and skiing in the winter. I’m a film enthusiast and have spent far too many hours in the dark watching everything from noir classics to arthouse flicks to John Woo bulletfests.
I try to stay abreast of developments in the industry and whatever’s currently happening in social media, though I decided a few years ago that I’d rather focus only analogue life than my digital one.
This page is a work ever in progress, no closer or further from what I had in mind. It’s nothing profound, but I’ve been blogging (albeit infrequently) since 2002, and it seems a shame to stop now. Should you feel the need, you can email me on christian (at) vonschack.com. (Please – no Viagra offers.) Be seeing you.
