We just bought a house. This means we have to move out of our apartment, and that means we have to do a whole lot of cleaning up. We’ve lived here for 6 years and change, and had our first child after six months or so. We had another after that, which did something to profound to our ability to keep a clean house. We’ve spent the past two weeks excavating the place, and I have to say … I wouldn’t mind living here myself!
Scotland’s The Pearlfishers finally have a new album out. It’s called Love & Other Hopeless Things and if you like lush, orchestral pop, this is for you. The album as a whole is quite wonderful, full of soaring melodies and tasteful craft, but my favorite at the moment might just be Sometimes it rains in Glasgow. David Scott is The Pearlfishers, in the same way Neil Hannon is The Divine Comedy. I hope Mr. Scott makes it over to Norway some day, but I’ll settle for the album for now.
It costs $482.79 to get a decent pizza in San Francisco—$17 for the pie, $85 for cab fare, and $378.80 for the flight to New York. Throw in $1.99 for tinfoil.
